VALIMA/RECEPTION:
Once the couple is legally married, this is the last dinner the groom’s family will provide as a way to celebrate their union. Typically, the bride will wear a lovely dress and ethereal jewelry presented by the groom’s family, while the groom chooses a formal Western suit or coat pants. The official reception that the husband and wife host and at which the marriage is made public is known as the (دعوت ولیمہ). Usually, both families’ invited friends and numerous relatives attend the grand celebration. The Walima was traditionally hosted at homes, although they are now more frequently conducted in wedding sites, restaurants, or resorts.
The opinion among scholars is that walima is a Sunnah of Allah’s Messenger. Walima can be used in place of words like “wedding reception” or “gathering” in American and English. The word “awlama” is an Arabic word that means “union” or “get-together,” and it is where the phrase originates. It’s most frequently used to refer to a celebration where lots of people come together and eat together.
In Pakistani wedding culture, shalima is a growingly popular wedding tradition. These gatherings are more enjoyable for the guests and less expensive for the hosts. Everybody benefits from this.
